I put my betta from a small bowl into a filtered 2 gallon tank. Unfortunately, he died within 3 days. Do I need to drain the water and start over, or can I just add water conditioner and let it run for a few days before adding a new fish?

Did you use tap water? If so you must use conditioner, depending on how much look on the directions and check your betta supplied. Also, pet stores do not have the best choice of betta fish. I'd recommand asking them how old they are exactly and where'd they've been ordered from.

Thats the problem most bettas come from a wholesaler to the pet shops. They can be old young etc etc.
